Expecting a large amount of plat: Best way to spend it for HoM?
I just pulled a green tonic out of a 6th year b-day box on character on my account. Assuming I can find a buyer, I'll have a huge influx of plat. How should I spend it to maximize by GW2 rewards via the HoM?
A few level setting items: - I don't care about titles in GW2. Anything above 30 points in the HoM is a waste for me. - I have all campaigns. I have NOT beaten Nightfall or EotN. - I currently have 3 tapestries (minis, heros, titles) in HoM and 13 points. I just hit the 20 mini mark and also already have the points for green/gold mini's. - I want to spend a minimal amount of time grinding. I am willing to finish EotN, but I have not even started Nightfall. I can see myself grinding the hero armor for the Nightfall chars, as I only need 2 more hero statues for the 5 statue mark. - My main is a level 20 ranger. I have a lvl 20 warrior, but he was stripped of gear in an account hack years ago. I know the weapons and armor are mostly about plat, so I am looking into those. Any broad suggestions? Are there any titles that are worth the the plat over say a 4th armor etc? Any suggestions are welcome. |

Depending on the price drunk, sweet and aprty costs about 1000k to max per title.
if you dont wanna grind though those 3 are your best bet. you can also pay ppl to do the 5 elite areas for you. and buy mini pets. also capping pets that count towards hom |

you can easy get 30/50 on HOM with just gold. so try to get the best out of whatever the green tonic you have.
5 point from 20 miniature pet (try to get those unwanted pet 500-3k. 6 point from 10 companions statue ( try to get cheap hero armo of EOTN,around 10k ea) 7 point from 11 weapon statue ( opressor weapon around 20-30k ea) 5 point from 5 armor statue ( try cathan elite or prophetcies, around close to 100k ea) 8 point from 5 statue ( you can buy 5 run FOW,UW,SF,Ugoz, The Deep, or do normal mission to get Guardian/protector depend on how much gold u have. so in total you can easy get 31/50 and these point are most easy. after that if you want more then do more. dont go for those party title, it's take tons of gold and times to reach max and the benefit is not that big. i haven't been on this website for so long lol. the guy above me has it right. Cloth of the brotherhood is the cheapest hero upgrade. buy 1st-2nd year white minis to fill that. elite lux/kurz armor and another set or two of regular elite, then a couple of completion statues and you're set. spammable titles as already stated are just a huge ass money sink. unless of course you think you can vaet farm them yourself

Er, Destroyer and Oppressor weapons are actually closer to 75-100k ea. The materials needed for a Destroyer weapon alone will run about 50-60k minimum, and war supplies (to trade in for Medals of Honor which can then be traded for an Oppressor weapon) are running around 300-400g/per war supply.

Destroyer and Oppressor weapons have been going through the roof. Over 100k right now unless you find someone that is not aware of the crazy HOM chase with GW2 getting near.
6th year green tonics OTOH have been going down quite a bit so if you are going to sell it better do it soon. Have seen EL Destroyer, Margo and Kuuna tonics dipping significantly below 100e (when it first came out it was going for 240e). Have seen EL Destroyer for as low as 60e, EL Margo for 70e and EL Mad King for a little as 25e in kamadan. Hopefully you have the Kunnavang since I think they're still somewhat north of the 100e range. |

yep. My suggestion is get Oppressor weps. there was someone in sercives farming thme for like 100k per wep so thats your best bet for most of the elite weps. as for armor id go with any EotN armor. unless those dont count.

I really disagree with the suggestions to get lots of weapons. Hero armors are way cheaper; they're 100k per point at the very most. (Edit: More detail: Cloths are still like 5k each at most, and you can farm them yourself. Nightfall armors are more variable. Sunspears you can farm easily, the others you can if you have the patience. Or you can go buy primevals at like 10k each at most, I think. Not a whole lot, anyway.) Personal armor sets are also much cheaper; 6 points there should only cost 280k + mats (which includes 70 jade, but that still shouldn't come to more than about 350k).
I think this is close to the cheapest way to get 30/50: http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=d...AABAAAAAASAEIA 20 minis (1 gold, 1 green) full hero armor/pets 3 completed campaigns, protector in 2 of them 7 armor sets: 4x 40k sets (eotn sets and ancient), luxon (jade is cheaper than amber), 2x 60k sets of your choice 1x oppressor, 1x destroyer Edit: Or, yeah, like someone else said, just buy a couple statues instead of bothering with protector. But the campaigns are easy, and you can buy runs for some of the missions if you need them, and then you'll get all the heroes to armor up and put in your HoM along the way. Ok I saw a lot of comments here and I just want to tell you a few things.
If you want HoM don't think about the title first. Think about the progress in game. In my opinion for example I think it's stupid to buy hero armors when you can farm them easy!!!! No need to spend money on stuff you can get fast and easy. Also make sure you do Guild Wars : Beyond especially WiK and Hearts of the North. You can get 2 Opressor weapons from them. You can get a lot of titles without spending money and actually RECEIVING money to complete them!!! No title in my opinion is worth more than an armor or a weapon. Finish EotN 1st. It's easy and fast AND you get a lot of heroes. 10 if I recall it right. And get the EotN armors. Norn, Asura and Monument. They are cheap and you can get them fast maybe 75k each. Also get Kurzick and Vabbian (these will be more expensive if you are not willing to farm the materials for them). I reccomand choosing ONE character and working on him. That way you will finish the 30/50 HoM faster. Hope it helped. |

Where do people get numbers like these? The EotN armors are 40k+mats. If you're spending 75k on them something is very wrong.
Vabbian is very expensive right now (at least 250k in rubies and sapphires alone), and it's only worth one point more than any other set. With other armors at 60K+mats, you're spending 200k or more on just one point. You can spend less than that on one point by buying one destroyer weapon (or filling out Fellowship, or whatever). |

So yes it would become 40k+ mats. HOWEVER if you intend to buy full set it will be 50k + mats. If you DO NOT have the mats than you will need to spend a little bit more. |

Update: I'm up to 19 points. I have the following:
- 20 minis, including gold/gree - an oppressor weapon added - Kurzick armor added - 5 companion statues ~300 plat left. I will probably go for the 3 armor and 5 armor points next, followed by the 30 minis. That will put me at 23, which is enough for the great sword. Weapons in general seem well over 100k, but even buying the generic armors w/o any mats on hand seems a cheaper per point way to go. If I really need more points I'll grind out some hero armor. |

If you've never done a challenge mission, the first few times you will be getting armor drops fairly often.
At least that's how it was before, I'm not so sure about it now. Got 3 mysterious armors the first time I did the Shadow nexus challenge, i only got up to about 350 points. Since then I've gotten about 2 in 20+ runs, so after 3-5 good runs, find a different challenge mission. |

If you enjoy the game I strongly suggest you finish the nf campaign. I found it to be the most enjoyable of the 4 (though I enjoyed all of them). When you've finished nf for fun (another title + one more if you aim for protector at the same time) plus all the heroes (you can pick up the rest when you've beaten the final boss). Then it's time to do the fun challenge missions. At least I found them quite fun, and it doesn't take long at all to get most hero armor pieces. Buy the 5 primeval armor remnants, they are more difficult to get. voilla, you've gotten 3 additional points (if you tame a few pets, not difficult at all, even the black widow is easy, just don't accept any quests (except the first one) and you'll do fine in uw.
There are some armors which are cheaper than others (look at the mats), take a look at the wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ranger_armor Make sure you don't duplicate in the hom though. It's quite easy to get 3 oppressor weapons, just finish WiK and you should be almost there (do the quests which rewards more war supplies in hm in hard mode), grind the rest war supplies on the daily quests or buy what you're missing. Then it's 1 tormented and 1 destroyerweapon left and you should have 5 points from valor. Unfortunately the prices for hom weapons have risen quite a lot during the last year... You can save a bit by trying to get as many mats as you can for the destroyer weapon yorself. Unless you do doa there's no way to work around the cost of ~21e for an armbrace of truth though (unless the prices have increased since I last played, which is quite likely). It would be easier if you linked us your hom page. |
